Have you checked out the video? Pretty scary. Can't wait for the excuse. I was drunk, mad, depressed, high on crack ,my mother didn't breast feed me. It will be interesting to see the reactions,it's not Richards will ever be able to make a studio millions. elaine
Interesting thing is that Richards attended The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wa. Started in the 70s, Evergreen is known for being an extremely Liberal School, maybe one of the more Liberal in the Nation. Perhaps he is a Liberal bigot. ??
What an amazing power you possess. You have saved us all from OJ. Now please, could you do something about "The Megan Mullally Show"? They keep changing it's timeslot, so I'm never safe. It pop ups anytime it feels like ti, but no matter when they schedule it, it's still desperation crap. As for Michael Richards, a close friend of mine once punched him in the jaw, back at the old, now-defunct Westwood Comedy Store, back in 1980. I feel like calling him up and saying "Good call twenty-six years ago. How did you know? Could you punch him again now please?" Maybe Richards could write a book: "If I Said It"
Michael Richards is a master at physical comedy, as he has shown throughout his career. But stand-up comedy is a completely different animal, and he's as ill-suited to it as Jerry Seinfeld would be doing pratfalls.
But the good news -- thank you, Rupert Murdoch -- is that "If I Did It" is now "If I Didn't." Although I wouldn't be surprised to see a few already-printed copies of the book make a mint on the black market...
Ill-suited he may be, but Michael Richards has been doing stand-up comedy for more than a quarter of a century now. He and Jerry Seinfeld met in the comedy clubs when they were both doing stand-up back in the 1970s. You'd think he'd know how to handle hecklers by now without having a meltdown. He doesn't even have the "I was drunk" non-excuse. But you are very rigth about one thing: his bound gallies are probably already popping up on eBay.
My thinking is that a stressful situation brought out inner racism. The fact that he has those feelings does not make him totally evil or 3/4 of society would be damned. They are not good either. My idea would be for him to seek psychiatric help to see if these feelings could be overcome. As a Jew, I gave Mel Gibson a second chance after his defaming movie. He of course, blew it. Maybe Richards will too. Remember that many morning talk show hosts profit by apealing to people's inner prejudices. Fortunately, most of them seem to be disapearing from the market.

Unfortunately, it's being replaced by the "Kramer" bio entitled "If I could shove a fork up a black man's ass, this is how I would do it."

Richards' career died about 8 years ago. This will be the final nail in the coffin.
ReplyDeleteI guess even Fox has its standards...
