Ken talks to Bill Diamond, a veteran writer/producer (WINGS, MURPHY BROWN) who has produced sitcoms in Russia. It’s a crazy story. Ken & Bill also discuss reboots – specifically the new MURPHY BROWN and whether Ken thinks there will ever be a CHEERS reboot.
I wouldn't be too pessimistic about the odds for posthumous writing sales, though you may have other things on your mind at that point. Some time back, Terry Southern's estate released a pile of unsold scripts, and the studios went over them with an enthusiasm they hadn't had for the guy in years.
ReplyDeleteBy the time everything from Turn-On to Walter Cronkite has been rebooted, the world may finally be ready for a second crack at AfterMASH (or AfterAfterMASH).
From the Wikipedia: "Santa Barbara aired in over 40 countries around the world. It became the longest-running television series in Russia, being aired there from 1992 to 2002." It had 2137 episodes. I never saw a single one, though it ran from July 30, 1984 to January 15, 1993, and I watched Another World, its lead-in, starting in 1990.
