He had to cut "Rhapsody In Blue" up into about 8 pieces and fit each part onto a 78 in under 3 minutes. Of course, he did like to show off his virtuosity, so playing fast might have had something to do with that, too.

I highly recommend the recent CDs that put Gershwin's piano rolls through new recorder-type player pianos to catch every nuance of the performance. Listening to him play some of his lesser-known songs, sounding as if he's right in the room with you, is an amazing experience.Pat Reederhttp://www.hollywoodhifi.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-80097587453993497512012-08-07T11:06:52.162-07:002012-08-07T11:06:52.162-07:00Now I'm picturing a Kathy Griffin audio book r...Now I'm picturing a Kathy Griffin audio book read by Gilbert Godfried.Johnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-46824627043330879692012-08-07T10:35:27.000-07:002012-08-07T10:35:27.000-07:00Congratulations on becoming even more mult-media!
