Morey passed away a few weeks later and was obviously not "all there." Rather than name the nominees in my category, he quickly "the winner is..." and named me.

I quickly tried to think who to thank (I did not expect to win this one) and went up after the taped listing of the nominees. I felt the hold that comics have on their audience when I got to the mike, waited for them to quiet down and said, truthfully: "What a surprise!" They all laughed at once. What power! Great times.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-29144152020998487272007-06-10T23:45:00.000-07:002007-06-10T23:45:00.000-07:00What a perfect analogy for what Hollywood thinks o...What a perfect analogy for what Hollywood thinks of its writers!Cathy Fieldinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13938684179454515074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-57598913624668999262007-06-10T18:35:00.000-07:002007-06-10T18:35:00.000-07:00I remember a Golden Globes award show back in the ...I remember a Golden Globes award show back in the 60s or early 70s where Lucille Ball got roaring drunk and rowdy, bellowing remarks she thought were funny and then laughing racously. It was more fun than any Emmy, Tony, or Oscar show I've ever seen. That's awardtainment.

Of course, I've deeply honored the Golden Globes ever since the year they gave one to Pia Zadora for "Best Newcomer" after Pia's wealthy husband flew all the Globe voters to Vegas and put them up at his own expense. She should have won "Best No-Talent".

Not that you can buy a GG. Oh wait. You can, but they're pricey.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-59681559868870944142007-06-10T17:33:00.000-07:002007-06-10T17:33:00.000-07:00So what did you win an Emmy for?So what did you win an Emmy for?Graham Powellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01775285782385634486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-72307413798666142642007-06-10T17:14:00.000-07:002007-06-10T17:14:00.000-07:00I always like the Golden Globes due to the increas...I always like the Golden Globes due to the increased potential of drunken ramblings by the winners...er, the ones who get the awards that we cannot term winner as someone might get their feelings hurt.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-82094115895814080862007-06-10T15:05:00.000-07:002007-06-10T15:05:00.000-07:00Your experience of getting locked out in the alley...Your experience of getting locked out in the alley showed up in the day spa episode of "Frasier," didn't it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19336675.post-45781049145721172902007-06-10T12:38:00.000-07:002007-06-10T12:38:00.000-07:00THAT is a great story.
