Jane guesting on your blog (and I read both of yours), reminds me of two of my favorite shows crashing into each other last night. "Pushing Daisies" had Joel McHale as the murder victim, and he's also the host of "The Soup."

ReplyDeleteI had no idea Ken Levine was/is both a prolific writer and a baseball play by play announcer. Ken used to practice announcing Dodger and Angels game from the nose bleed seats which eventually led to a successful second career announcing baseball games.

I called and asked if you had a partner and how long did it take to write a script. I also asked about how much background you provide? I had a couple other questions. How much artistic freedom do the networks allow the writer? Do you find roadblocks in terms of politics? Do the networks or actors add to your scripts or alter your material? Thanks for answering my questions on the radio. Good Luck with getting the corporate machine to actually play fairly. They don't do it with the rest of America, but you guys actually have something that the suits can't buy..........brains and original idea's. I had a really good idea for a script, but don't know where to start. Do you have any suggestions for beginners?
ReplyDeleteI was one of those who managed to stay up and hear the interview. I think Vin Sculley influenced more than a few people to be better writers and make a living doing what they truly enjoy. When I was young, I built a shortwave receiver and was able to listen to the Dodgers games on Armed Forces Radio. I know he influenced me, too. Thanks for sharing your imagination.
