I can't believe I actually won!

I'm coming out with a book next month entitled "Acceptance Speeches I Never Got To Give", but today I won the Best Sports Talk Show Host award from the Southern California Sports Broadcasters. Thanks to many people, most of whom I acknowledged in my speech (which was supposed to be page 411 of my book). But a special thanks to my partner, Josh Suchon. It's really a two-man show and I share the award with him.

Update: Thanks so much to everyone for your well wishes and lovely comments. They're MUCH appreciated.

Ken

Congratulations! (now if you could just get that TV writing thing going...)

But sincerely, Congrats... Who knows, maybe in your honor Pink will come to your home and do a shower spin while hanging from your chandelier...

  7. Sure. But how many others in the running had a comedy writer? I mean it’s like pine tar on a shtick. And even if somebody else had taken the honors, what are the odds they’d get an attaboy from Elayne Boosler? Now if you’ll excuse, I’ll be spending the rest of the evening wrestling with the even more Portnoyesque question of whether a lawyer named Chuck Greenberg buying the Texas Rangers is good for the Jews or bad for the Jews. Really, Congratulations.

  8. Ken, allow me to quote the Hall of Fame voice of the Cardinals, the esteemed and immortal Mr, Jack Buck, "Pardon me while I stand up and cheer."

  10. Way to go, and well deserved! You guys are really doing a great job with the post-game show, and are able to make it both fun and informative. Hell, your ability last summer to tread judiciously through that minefield that was Mannywood might earn you a Humanitas! Congrats.

  14. You won't eventually have to give up any of part of this award in the McCourts' settlement, will you?

    Nice going, Ken.

  17. But will you be inducted with an Expos cap isntead of a Cubs cap?

  21. Congrats, Ken. You've had two careers to be envied. Which brings up a question: Watching Cheers today ("Go Make" from 12.91), Sam has a dream sequence where he's having a catch w/ his teenage son by Rebecca. In the dream sequence, both Sam "Mayday" Malone and his son throw like girls (with all due respect to so many fine female softballers). There's nothing even approaching the mechanics a former ballplayer would have, even casually tossing. Knowing your passion for baseball, I'm surprised this passed muster for the show. Any insight? THX, and best wishes...

  22. Having met and worked with you at Fox in the late 80's, It is great to see that you have remained funny, humble and talented, and I can only assume as handsome as ever.

    Congrats on your award!

  23. This week Lifetime ran the "Not Dinner at Eight" episode of FRAZIER, so this is fitting...

"Who's got the best sports talk show in So Cal?"

    "Ken does, Ken does!"
