Heading off to Seattle...

...to pay my respects to Dave Niehaus. I’ll be tweeting throughout the trip for those who follow me on Twitter. The Mariners are planning a public celebration of Dave's life on December 11th.  More details soon.  Last week I was interviewed on KJR radio in Seattle about Dave and that interview is now on line. Thanks to Mike Gastineau and 950 KJR.

See you in Seattle.

  2. I attended the Safeco Open House last Saturday in his honor. It was very well done. Have a safe trip!

  3. Be safe Ken.

In less somber news, did you see that EW totally stole your idea? Kindof...

  4. Hmmm, I wish I could go to that place too. If somebody sponsor the travel fee. :-)

  6. Ken, do let us know if you will have time to meet with Seattle readers before or after the Safeco memorial.

The fan reflection for Dave at Safeco Field last Saturday was somber and reflective, as swells of music from "Field of Dreams" and "The Natural" mixed with Dave's calls from the game. In this photo, the line of mourners who patiently waited hours to see the mementoes and offer condolences to the family even mirrors the final shot from "Field of Dreams" of the headlights of the cars snaking into the cornfield.

  7. Just had a chance to listen to your interview and I am once again grateful for your ability to speak and write with such compassion. Thank you, Ken.
