It seems that every sitcom is required to do their annual Christmas episode. For ALMOST PERFECT in the first season, we decided to be different and basically refer to it just in passing. There is a brief discussion about what everyone will be doing for the holidays, and decorations are up everywhere, but otherwise, it's just business at usual. So to help you get into (or out of) the holiday spirit, here's the "Risky Christmas" episode of ALMOST PERFECT. Written by Drew Vaupen & Phil Baker and directed by FRASIER'S David Lee. And as always, since I don't know how to digitally edit, whiz through the first 20 seconds to get to the show. Yeah, I know. I should learn already.
About David Clennon's character: Has he ever been in a comedy other than Almost Perfect? I thought he was great as Miles (a role that certainly demanded wit) in Thirtysomething a few years earlier, and still have on tape his big speech to Ken Olin in the second-last episode - the only few minutes of that whole series that I thought were worth saving.

ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about the obligatory Christmas show that almost all sitcoms do - and the one glaring example of a show that didn't really do one was Mad About You. They had a Thanksgiving show each year - for the most part - but never a Christmas show.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the reason was because Paul Reiser is Jewish - as was his character on the show - and you know what? The show wasn't affected by the lack of a Christmas show in the least bit.
