This is what I sounded like in 1977

Great Big Radio, despite my restraining order and seventeen injunctions, is playing one of my radio shows tonight from 8-9 PST, 11-12 EST.  It's from 1977 when I was Beaver Cleaver on KTNQ (The New TenQ), Los Angeles. Not sure what I was on besides speed and helium, but I was completely out of my mind in those days. And the music! I hope somebody at the station was getting well paid to play this stuff.

There will also be an encore from 11-12 PST, 2-3 am EST.

You can hear it on Great Big Radio here. If you dare.

  1. Dental web design is required by the modern dentists to attract new patients to visit their clinic and to retain the old patients. Dental website development has be done by keeping in mind a design which is simple, user-friendly, decent,
and still professional.Dental web design is done by a dentist with an intention to expand his business. The dental business will grow if new patients visit the
clinic and the old patient revisit the dental clinic.

  2. Wow, I am amazed how much it sounds like a recent station playing oldies, except the live ads by Ken between songs.

    Now i want strawberry soda.

Ken...If you compare the music you were playing on the radio in 1977 to what crap they play today, Debby Boone, Carole King and the Commodores actually sound pretty good. By the way, did you ever end up getting your picture on the Ten-Q music menu? I still have some of those. No "Beaver" on any of the ones I have except maybe Nancy Plum!

  5. Wait. Wait. I thought of something better.

And it's all brought to you by Dentrix Spamming blogs with bullshit for 3 days!

He sounds great, doesn't he? We're thinking of hiring him but we can't find what street corner he's working.

  8. "music from the movie of the year... Abbott and Costello meet Charles Manson... rated PG, bring the family". I ROFLMAO'd when I heard you say it in '77 and tonight I ROLMAO'd again.

  9. Damn, I thought I was the only DJ in the world who had a PD that made me play the disco version of "Baby Face". And Ken, you might want to update your info on 440: Satisfaction, your radio info seems to stop in 1995 when you were doing pbp for the Padres. Anyways, really enjoyed the blast from the past!

  11. Jeffrey Leonard, as far as I know, there were no KTNQ surveys with the Beav on them; here's a link to a rare KYA survey from 1974 that has a picture of "Beaver Cleever" on it (misspelling...again, Ken, can you tell the story behind this misspelling at KYA? Did they think it would prevent them from getting sued? Or did some dumb gofer screw up the spelling?)

Is that indicative of how desperate we've become? Even back then, we sensed the golden age of Top 40 had died about 1974 or so.

  14. I'm going to post the KYA survey picture later today on the blog (with links back to where I got it) along with an explanation for the mis-spelling.
