Fox is looking for new drama writers

They've teamed up with the Blacklist to find new writers for their drama shows.  You submit material, it gets evaluated, and the best of the best gets forwarded to the network for possible assignments or staff work.   The competition closes May 1st.

I have nothing to do with this.  But I know I have a lot of readers who want to break into the business so when I see an opportunity I like to pass it along.

Here's where you go for information and submissions.

Good luck.  Someone has to break in.  Why not you?

  1. Ken - FYI, the link is bad.

    The correct link is:
    http://www.blcklst.com/fox

(Note, "There is no 'I' in blcklst.")

  3. That is, depending on your font... "There is no 'i' in blcklst."

  4. Wow! Operators are standing by.

  5. Weird typo on the site: "only television drama genera teleplays will be accepted for consideration..." Is that really how someone at the Black List thinks "genre" is spelled?

  6. I guess I'm cynical, but this mostly sounds like a way for the Black List to get a bunch of people to pony up $25 to post a script. I doubt that Fox is suffering from a dearth of writers' submissions.

  7. If we do it, in two days are you going to tell us it was satire and we're stupid for not recognizing that?

  8. The next villain to catch is the BLOGGER.

  9. Three weeks to write that drama script I've had rattling around in my brain for the past few years... Doh!

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully somebody here will get spotted!

  10. The most fantastical and surreal authors get to work for Fox News.

  11. For those who have submitted, if you are not selected. Remember, there is no drama.

  12. And now NBC dives into the pool -- soliciting fresh new comedy ideas:

Ken, you and David ought to send them a few goodies and offer to save the network.

  14. I've not read the small print here, but it's typical for these contests for the competition runner to own all the submissions. Even the ones they don't pick up. Hopefully that's not the case.

  15. Ken, you enjoyed Gravity. Have you seen the deleted scene they posted three days ago?

It changes the film quite a bit!

  16. Friday question: I know you like Jenna Elfman, but what do you think of her comment that "because with the Internet … audiences are more savvy, and with a single camera you can home in on nuance more than with multi-cam and capture the smarter side of the story". 17. I'm surprised that no one at Fox thought to try to squeeze out 22 episodes of 'So You Think You Can Write'......

  18. Thanks, Ken!

  19. @Mike There doesn't seem to to be any way of reaching you other than openly. Are you a wannabe writer? You have an interesting voice, I think!
