It's hard to write a birthday post for a comedy writer. I'd say something sentimental but she's on staff of a sitcom. I'd be setting her up for endless serenading of "Sunrise/Sunset." I mean, it was fine to embarrass her when she was a teenager. I used to do that all the time. But that was on purpose.
This time I just want her to know that I'm proud of her, love her, and she makes me laugh everyday. And if they do sing "Sunrise/Sunset" make them dance too.
Happy birthday, Annie!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. Look forward to another guest appearance on here :)

ReplyDeleteYour daughter shares a birthday with Warren Buffet and Turkish Victory Day. This means that either stock options or liberty from colonial oppressors are the ideal birthday present.
ReplyDeleteLittle Dow Chemical's all grown up!
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns of the day, Annie.
ReplyDeleteAnnie shares the same birthday as my grandson Nic, who is 13 today!
ReplyDeleteLooks like we are both blessed with a special reason for gratitude and joy on August 30th! Many happy returns to Annie!
CONGRATULATIONS ANNIE.....
ReplyDelete....for having turned out half-ways normal being raised by two of the kooky-est on the coast.
:+)
Hey, wait a minute, Ken! Isn't this just another repost? It seems like Annie had a birthday last year too.
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to pull a fast one on us here on your free blog? ;)
Happy birthday, Annie!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading you here for years and I;m still not sure where to start a new question or comment. May I keep it vaguely on topic by first asking you to please tell Annie that there's a fella in England she's never heard of who wants to wish her a happy birthday? Also, congratulations on her writing: I don't think her show airs here yet but I'll watch out for it.
ReplyDeleteBut to now leap completely away from the thread, may I ask you a question for a book I'm writing, please? I'm deep into a book about blogging for writers: it'll cover all the technical stuff and I'll explain bits about money, but I am really focused on encouraging writers to write blogs. Which means I am really looking at what doing this gives us.
For instance, I post regularly and that gives me the same discipline I've had before when BBC columnist. I think it's also improved my writing as I've reached deeper into myself and into topics that interest me solely in order to avoid a blank screen.
I realise that you've touched on this before and I will quote you, particular your recent comments on anonymous trolls, but I'd really like to get your opinions on two specific points:
1) What does this blog give you personally? What does it mean to you?
2) Why blog at all? You could do audio or video podcasts, you already do radio, you already reach millions – actually, billions – through your TV career.
Perhaps you also get the benefit of having that daily deadline, in which case I might even be helping you out by saying I need to know by Friday 5 September.
Does that make this a Friday question? I'm better at this commenting than I thought.
If you can and you fancy helping my book, thank you. If you can't or you don't, thank you anyway and I'll be recommending your blog regardless.

I would also like to add that it kills me inside that I made a typo on the first line of my comment (a semi-colon instead of an apostrophe) and can't edit it.
ReplyDeleteSorry about that.
