I did a podcast

I guested on a podcast that is now online.  It's for The New Hollywood.  You can find it here.  Hosted by Brian Flaherty, it's one of the better podcasts I've done.  We talk for over an hour about a lot of subjects.  Early on we're talking about MAD MEN and stuff in general and then it gets into writing sitcoms, my various careers, etc.   Who doesn't have an hour to listen to some gasbag go on and on about himself?

  1. Defining "New Hollywood" down, apparently.

  2. Can't be any worse than the first three episodes of TRUE DETECTIVE. I'll listen this week. I'm sure there are some funny anecdotes spread throughout your hour. Disappointed in the flat dialogue, on-the-nose exposition and stiff acting in Detective. They spent more time creating the atmosphere rather than on the characters.

  3. Just listened to the Podcast---it was terrific! Some of the topics had been discussed on this blog, but never in such detail. I especially enjoyed hearing how you and David Isaacs work together. You mentioned frequently that you got lucky, but it seems to me that it was more a case of "The harder you worked, the luckier you got." Except for meeting a partner who complemented you so well---that was luck.

    Thanks for the link.

  5. Isn't the host mispronouncing your last name? I thought you go by "la-veen".

  6. Dear Keith Olbermann*:

After your latest dismissal (this time from ESPN), I'm convinced creating a podcast is your career solution -- unless you're truly so masochistic that one day you somehow fire yourself.

    * I've been a fan of his since he worked at KTLA back in the late '80s (and my mother was a regular viewer of "Countdown"); if he sees this, I hope he understands it's in good humor.

  7. Best interview I've ever heard with you, Ken. You sound very relaxed and open. Really great stuff!
