Come to my blog party
In celebration of my blog's 10th anniversary this month I am having a get-together in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 17th from 7:30-10:00 at the WGA library -- 7000 W. 3rd St, LA, 90048 (the corner of third and Fairfax). It will be very informal -- beverages and snacks. But I would love to meet as many of you intrepid readers as possible. Space is limited so you must RSVP. If you can come, please RSVP Cynthia Furey at furey.cynthia@gmail.com. Thanks so much to Cynthia and the WGA for making this happen. And special thanks to all you readers who will be flying in from Norway and India to attend this.
Wish I could make it. Could you film some of it and post on youtube for those of us who can't attend?
ReplyDeleteHope everyone who goes has a terrific time!
Will someone be Live Tweeting this?
ReplyDeleteWill you do a review (ala the Oscars) afterwards?
You should have everyone come with name tags based on there Blogger name.
I'd love to see how many come with "Anonymous" sticking to their chest.
I'm also curious to how many come as a Robot.
Congratulations, good luck, and you have no idea how much I wish I could be there!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you're doing this, it's really above and beyond. Since my wife and I have met you a few times we don't want to take up one of the limited spots but I wanted to say thanks just the same. The gesture is truly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteWrong month for me, I'm afraid. Have a good time. If I make it over in December, I'd be happy to buy you a drink, though.
ReplyDeleteI have, however, a Friday question. A number of us have been seriously admiring Aya Cash's work on YOU'RE THE WORST (which you should all see, if you haven't). Someone opined that she has no chance at an Emmy nomination, however, because the network that broadcasts the show is the ultra-obscure FXX. Is this true, do you think? Does it hurt the chances of THE AMERICANS, Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys that they're on FX? I know the main actors on JUSTIFIED never won anything - but Margo Martindale, guesting in season 2, did. I'd have thought that with shows on Amazon and Netflix winning awards we were entirely over that sort of snobbishness.

I'll be there in spirit. Hopefully, we'll get to meet in April at "A or B?"
ReplyDeleteI think some sort of live feed would be a great idea for those of us who can't make it in person. I would be there if I could! Congrats on ten years -- I'm so glad I found this blog, and look forward to many years of insights and stories to come!
ReplyDeleteI'm in -- consider yourselves warned. (I'll explain why later...and there's no malicious intent behind this statement.)
ReplyDeleteDamn, will still be in NY. Well, hopefully I'll be there for the 11th!
ReplyDeleteThe stars lined up and I find myself in LA that week. Yes I've sent my RSVP. Looking forward to it.

So that's right around the Farmer's Market if memory serves. Wish I could, but it's a bit of a hike from Seattle. Especially, on this short of a notice. I think one of your best posts will be writing about the preceding. Hope everyone brings their sense of humor and a camera.
ReplyDeleteOh. My. God! Yes!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any idea what you look like and choose not to google it at this time. Instead, I plan on spending the evening going up to every man in the room and greet them with hearty handshake, big slap on the back and a "Ken! Big fan!". Hmm, maybe shouldn't have posted this before my rsvp.

Given the unique nature of this blog and its surrounding community, it'd be pretty fun to livestream (Periscope?) a bit of the meet-and-greet. Ken, you should just have a Periscoping phone in your shirt pocket and keep it running!
ReplyDeleteI'll try to be there! I work as a composer for film and TV but have enjoyed Ken's blog daily for years now and have not only been highly entertained but also culled many creative tips, despite our craft being different.
Looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteThe WGA offices are diagonally across 3rd and Fairfax from the original Du-par's at Farmers Market (their hotcakes, served 24 hours a day, are exquisite). And since I live near 3rd and Rampart, it's an easy ride for me on the 16/316 bus. See you there!
ReplyDeleteNo LA trip this year. I'm sure it will be fun, though. Congrats on 10 years! (Wow -- have blogs been around for 10 years already? Feels like the Internet is still new to me.)
ReplyDeleteHey I'd love to come but the wife and I have a 4-H meeting that night. Maybe next time.
