For your viewing pleasure

Here is that ten minute one act play I wrote and directed recently that was part of the "Hollywood Shorts" program at the Whitefire Theatre in Studio City.   It's called WAITING FOR GO and stars Paul Pape and Liz Bliss.   Thanks to Paul for arranging to have it taped.  It's one camera so obviously the production values aren't STAR WARS.  But you'll get the idea.   Thanks to all concerned, especially Paul & Liz who were a dream cast.

  1. Very funny, sounds like a network sitcom could be if the FCC stopped sitting on television's bladder. The fifty-something
"romance" scene, complete with boner pills and smoldering resentments.

  6. Enjoyable, but no real big laughs. Looks like a standard SNL skit....

  7. Wonderful, Ken. And an actress named Blis playing a call girl. Hm.

  8. I really enjoyed it for the most part. I just think the end is a tad too predictable and doesn't have a big enough punchline. Having absolutely no talent or experience in this field, I can't come up with a good suggestion. Wouldn't this problem be a good project for the next Writers' Room?

    Thanks for sharing.

  10. Wow, I thought it was hilarious! For me, the comedy has to be clever and witty, with great dialog and this had all three. The idea of a man in an exalted position, risking everything just to get laid, then escaping the situation, just to dive back into an even more compromising situation is so funny! Then the dialog is so sharp, delivered beautifully by 2 superb actors, and I laughed out loud when the same hooker showed up, now armed with valuable knowledge and body language to show it. The punchline was hilarious. Quite a lot to accomplish in 10 minutes!

  12. That was great! Thanks for sharing. The characters were so much more interesting than a lot of stuff on TV these days, they were actually intelligent adults. I loved Dan's phone call with his wife, that reminded me a lot of the phone calls on MASH. I will say though, as soon as he called for another hooker I knew it was going to be the same one, so I don't think the end was as funny as it could have been, and from the sound of things at least some of the audience agreed with me. Brilliant job by both the actors, they were wonderful.

  15. Ken, I can appreciate the balance of political views.
Yes you 'insult' Sarah Palin, and Donald Trump. And you make fun of Fox News.

But in the end the audience is shown a Democrat Senator who is a lecher (who despises his constituents), possibly on a who is willing to use his power and access to the IRS to destroy a normal citizen, and possibly betray information for the utilization of his penis by a hooker. And the Democratic President gives his approval.

    Bravo. :)
