Best album cover EVER

Now this is who I want to see perform on AMERICA'S GOT TALENT.

And to make sure her fingers are properly manicured, what better salon to frequent than this?
Now there are some who claim the album cover is a hoax but I could swear she was playing last night at the Grand Wailea lobby bar.

  3. Sorry to kill the joke, but this is a fake. The record label, Tamla, was one of the family of Motown record labels in the 1960s and 1970s (Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles were among the acts whose original releases were on Tamla). In the mid-1980s, after Berry Gordy had started divesting himself of the company, all rereleases and future releases were moved to the Motown label.

TS-304, the catalog number shown on the label of the "cover" pictured here, is actually the catalog number for Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed & Delivered album from 1970.

It's pictured here with the original logo: http://www.bsnpubs.com/motown/tamla/304.jpg

  4. Wonder if her tour will be sponsored by Chap-Stick.

Songs on the album: "Blowin' In The Wind". "Let The Four Winds Blow". "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles". "After The Storm Blows Through". "Blowin' Free". "Blowing Kisses In The Wind". "Blown Away". "Something's Gotta Blow." "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)". "The Blower's Daughter". "Cold Wind Blows". And the ever popular "Blow Me".

  5. Svetlana Gruebbersolvik and her album cover are sadly fake, but I would still like to meet her.

  6. Granting the greatness of that album cover, the disco album the Boston Pops did ranks up there. "Saturday Night Fiedler," with the maestro in the Travolta outfit.

Close behind: the Bonnie and Clyde soundtrack by Flatt and Scruggs, with them and their band members carrying their instrument cases and wearing pinstripe suits and fedoras.

  7. Sorry, Ken; not even close. If you are of a certain age, the greatest album cover remains "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" by Herp Albert & the Tijuana Brass.

  9. With material like this, Ken, it looks like you're finally ready to write for HBO -- or TVLand.

  10. Unfortunately, only one of the following people are real:

    1) Svetlana Gruebbersolvik

    2) Santa Claus

    3) President-elect Donald Trump.

    Happy Holidays.

  11. (Private message) Ken: I've been trying to reach you via email about a story I am writing for Vanity Fair.com about the Dick Van Dyke Show. This is the email address I've got--bossjock@dslextreme.com. Mine is liebenson@sbcglobal.net. It would be a thrill (for me) to talk my favorite TV series with you. All the best, Donald

Goddammit, that album's fake? You can't trust anybody! Oh well, at least I know my faith in this album's authenticity is not misplaced:

No, dammit, that was not...what your sick minds think!

Most perverted blog on the internet...

  15. Friday question: One particular guilty, guilty pleasure show of mine is a sitcom on Disney Channel called Girl Meets World, a sequel of the TGIF show Boy Meets World show following the daughter of the lead characters and her teenage friends in NYC. It's actually quite a large step up in quality from the shows Disney usually has, covering topics like autism, cyberbullying, and sex ed (on the Disney Channel? I was just as surprised!) One of the former stars of the original series, Rider Strong, in addition to having a recurring role on the show, has co-directed a good many of the episodes with his brother Shiloh. It's generally established within the fanbase and cast that these are some of the better episodes of the series. However, I've noticed that it's quite rare for two people to direct an episode together so often, particularly in multi-cam shows. In these cases, how does the process differ from just one director?

  16. A note: I've been seeing billboard ads around town (and not just in the Valley, either) promoting Adultcon.com later this month at the LA Convention Center. And the last four digits of the number to call for more information are..."6969." How obvious.

  19. This 2008 blog photo confirms that I was not crazy to recall that a London hairdresser's DOB was:

    It Will Grow Back

    http://www.velcro-city.co.uk/friday-photo-blogging-it-will-grow-back/

Uncle John's Triumphant 20th Anniversary Bathroom Reader immortalized the salon in 2007.

Alas, a 2016 Google Earth Street View Image shows the location empty (with the same upper facade and red brick building in the back).

  20. Svetlana Gruebbersolvik! I heard she had to change her name from Gruebberslovick because they couldn't pronounce it in the U.S.

(Amused to read that it was a hoax cover. Considering the quality of the real covers, how could we tell?)
