This week is AVOCADO TOAST, which I also directed. Next week is 15 SECONDS and THANKS DUDE. I also know some of the other playwrights and their plays are terrific. They get into festivals all the time because they're that good.
For tickets you can go here.
The shows are Thursday through Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 6. . I'll be there for every performance this week (since I also directed) and most of the performances next week. Come say hi to the cowering playwright in the back corner.
Thanks to all the actors, directors, crew and festival people for your talent and hard work on my behalf.
And if you're in Pittsburgh, I have a half-hour play, WHEN ROMCOMS GO BAD playing this weekend at the Pittsburgh New Works Festival. Thanks to all of those folks. You can get info and tickets here.
I probably have six MASH episodes rerunning this week but I'm way more excited about the plays. Hope you can get to one of them. Or three. Four actually. Thanks.
Congrats on your entries in the S&S Festival. Unfortunately, I HATE West Hollywood! (For the traffic and congestion as opposed to the other reasons to hate it) However, because I've enjoyed your previous plays I'll see what I can do. And just in case I don't make it, BREAK A LEG.

You can take the subway to Hollywood/Highland then take westbound Metro route 217 on Hollywood Bl. to Fairfax and Santa Monica Bl. Get off, walk one block west and you are there with parking or congestion.
DeleteI meant without parking or congestion.
DeleteMike, pretend you're going to Whole Foods. (It's at Santa Monica & Fairfax.)
DeleteThanks for the advice, Dana. I'll consider that. When I went to see Going...Going...Gone! I walked all the way from H & H to Sta. Monica Blvd...and BACK.

Going in Pittsburgh!
ReplyDeleteMy wife will not consider a subway and bus on a rare night out. She also recently had a knee replacement so long walks are out as well. Is the parking really that bad by the MM theater?
ReplyDeleteLevine in da 'Burgh! I have my ticket for Saturday's "Romcom."
ReplyDeleteJust came across this article regarding Frasier, thought you might like it.

From reading the description at New Play Exchange, I can imagine this performed in Hollywood heaven with Cary Grant as the conservative fiance, William Powell as the charming cad (see "Jewel Robbery" as proof he could pull it off) and Myrna Loy as the beautiful heroine, with Carole, the lady in my avatar, as comic relief. (Or Lombard and Loy could swap roles, if you prefer your humor to be a bit drier with less slapstick.)
ReplyDeleteKen, for those of us blessed/cursed with living on another continent, are any of your play scripts available online? I'd love to read some of your plays.
ReplyDeletePsychological Friday Question... How do you deal with letting go? You write a book, your words are there forever and ever exactly as you wrote them. You write a TV show or movie, and your work is interpreted by OTHER people's work, but at least you get to see the final product. You write a play, and you hand it over to strangers in faraway places and you may never know how they represented you. Seems creepy to me, but then I am a control freak. Have you ever written a script and then seen the final TV/movie/play production, and thought "Well, THAT'S not what I intended"?
