Okay, two versions of this pilot failed at two different networks, but Levine & Isaacs got to hang out with the president of the United States, back when that meant something.
That was back when Lorimar was hot, just about every pilot they made back then got picked up for series.
I remember a Lucy Show from the early 60's where at the episodes end Lucy went to White House and met the President- the encounter was off camera but we heard a JFK impersonator greet Mrs. Carmichael.
Off topic- but it was a shame that Senator Henry Jackson never made it to the White House- because then the Western White House would have been located in Everett, Washington. And in the 70's Everett was known for pulp mills that emitted a strong rotten-egg odor. When driving through the city you always made sure to roll up the windows. Makes one smile to think of the Press Corp having to work there- a bit different that Hyannis Port or San Clemente.
I think you probably went to Upper Darby, a town just across the city limits from West Philly. It's where Tina Fey and Todd Rundgren grew up and Mike Scoscia was born. It's also home to the Tower Theater, similar to the Beacon in NYC, which helped give David Bowie, Genesis, and Springsteen their starts. Also, just as an FYI, whenever in Philly, it's always Center City, not downtown; similar to you go to the Shore, not the beach, when heading to the sands near Atlantic Ocean in Jersey.
