Weekend Post

Earlier this week I posted my recommendation to see the new documentary, LINDA RONSTADT: THE SOUND OF MY VOICE.  As a follow-up, here is a CBS Sunday Morning profile on Linda done about a year ago.  What a cool lady.

  1. What's with the haircut? She looks like a 6 year old boy.

  3. Good luck with your play this weekend Ken. I'm blocked from watching the video because I'm in another country, at least that's what it says, but Ron I think her hair is tied up at the back and it makes it look like a short haircut.

  4. I've watched that profile so many times. It's always a treat. Thanks again, Ken.

What do you think about Disney's controversial decision to drop the word Fox from 20th Century Fox, renaming it 20th Century Studios, because they want to avoid the perception that it's connected with Fox News?

  6. Really, Ron? This brilliant artist is ill and has been reclusive for years. She finally agrees to be interviewed and all you could think of is what her hair looks like? Don’t feel compelled to post things like this again because it says more about you than her.

I agree with Shelley. And actually, I think Linda still looks gorgeous and much younger than 72.

  7. Celebrities are fair game. If you go on TV with a sugar bowl haircut looking like Moe, you're going to get called on it.

  8. 18:1 that "Ron" is Teri Hatcher.

  9. Her songs were beautiful in terms of of lyrics and beats.
    Thus she is beautiful.
    Thanks Ken for cool post.
    You are the best.
    Keep em coming.
And when will create a big script forum so we can post...

  10. @ Ron
Celebrities are fair game. What exactly does that mean?
That because you have the right to criticize someone you should criticize him or her?
That attitude embodies so much of what is wrong with the internet and social media.

  11. Ron, the saying goes...."If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it at all"
If you don't care for her, don't watch things pertaining to her. There's no need to waste your time on mean unwanted comments. I think you are a better human being than that.

  12. Just curious:
Did Linda Ronstadt ever consider taking up acting?
She definitely has camera presence; singing in her styles is only a step removed from screen acting, and even if she can't handle melody anymore, speaking can be just as effective.

    For Ron:
Internet commenters can also be fair game.
So if beings like you insist on sending in infantile snark, you may expect to get called on it as well.

  13. Mike D.: To perform a major role in a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta requires some acting ability; Linda was in a Broadway production of The Pirates of Penzance and in the movie adaptation of the same production (1983).

  14. Thanx to gottacook: I'd forgotten about Pirates Of Penzance.
The point I was driving at was that Ronstadt could likely make a stand in non-singing dramatic or comedic roles; even now, she ought to take a shot at it.

And for the record: I've known more than a few ladies who wore that hairstyle, and (my opinion) looked just fine.

  15. I heard that she tried out for the role of Phoenix in Phantom of the Paradise.

Based on your recommendation, I watched the documentary- it was excellent. What a voice she had!
