I grew up in Woodland Hills, a middle class suburb of the San Fernando Valley. We were right next to Canoga Park. There was a big difference. Don't know who made this but it's hilarious. And boy does it bring back cherished memories. You'll excuse me if I get a little misty. I'm a but overwhelmed by nostalgia.
I lived in Canoga Park the whole 10 years I was out in LA... Mind if I share in your nostalgia, Ken?... Ah, what memories! From the nightly volley of gunfire to the porn stars shopping at Ralphs on Topanga Canyon Blvd... Yup, there's no place like home....

ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. We had friends who moved from the midwest to Canoga Park over 30 years ago. My mom and sister visited them and they always made it sound like Canoga Park was a nice place. I always wanted to go there. Now I see that I can go to downtown Detroit and see similar sites, and save the airfare.

In the early '70s, there was a syndicated quiz show called "Agriculture USA," in which teams of high school 4-H and FFA chapters answered ag-related questions. It ran in the early morning hours on weekends, presumably as filler, and I remember one of the participating high schools was...Canoga Park. I doubt it has an FFA chapter today (just as there used to be an FFA chapter at Maryland's Gaithersburg High School 40 years ago before it became a high-tech D.C. suburb).
