A GREAT April's Fool joke

On tonight's James Corden show.  Katie Couric gets him good.  Check this out.

  1. That was cruel. The steps are a stupid idea, in my opinion, but that was a prank, not a joke. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I was a stage manager, and I've seen serious injuries and death in this business of show.

  2. Maaaaaaan, I had to chuckle at some of those audience members who were laughing at "Katie" when she was lying face down at the bottom of the stairs. People can be such assholes!!!

  3. Two classic April Fools Pranks we pulled with our weekly newspaper in North San Diego County . . . first:

(I owned and operated "Lyle's at Dixon Lake" in Escondido for 27 years . . . so had a pretty good working knowledge of the lake.)

This, I think was our best "classic" April Fools Story. The Mayor requested 25 copies . . . and our phones rang off the hook:

  4. Man, if James Corden doesn't stop finding every word out of his own mouth so hysterically funny that he spends half the show laughing his head off at his own jokes, I really will stop watching him forever. I realize that he's not a stand-up comic (as it's screamingly obvious every moment he's onscreen), so all of his jokes are written for him, but maybe he could read them all before the show and get his laughing at them out of his system before the show starts. It's sad that someone I found engaging and enjoyable on Doctor Who and in Into the Woods is so horribly obnoxiously bad as a talk show host. I've watched three episodes so far, and he's just dreadful. And the filmed bit with David Beckham where Corden cavorted about half nude, with even some slo-mo shots so we could savor watching the folds of flesh from which the fat has been liposuctioned out vibrate and flap, was not funny, but just plain repulsive. This talk show replacement is a massive Fail!

  5. He didn't notice that nobody ran to help her, neither staff or audience? Everyone had been set-up so as not cause alarm in anyone but the chubby host. That's why some of the audience were laughing.

    Who is that guy anyway?

  6. Props to Katie Couric for mentioning the name of her stunt double.

  7. Not my idea of entertainment; I'm with sinyet.

  8. If James Corden keeps laughing at his own jokes and starts eating like an American, he will have audience growing bigger every day.

  9. Funny stuff... but surely the fact that none of the crew reacted would have tipped off Corden? That said, if he was tipped off, he did a great job of seeming genuinely scared. His reaction really made it.

  10. Not for one second do I believe he didn't know what was going on.

  11. Who is James Corden? I've never heard of this dude before.

At least they're not continuing the new tradition of just handing over a talkshow to a former SNL castmember on a silver platter like they did with Jimmy Fallon and Seth Myers.
