Ah, the star of Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth. How that didn't launch a movie megastar, I have no idea.
Also starred Terry Farrell if I remember correctly, who was dumped from Becker. You must have something to say about her, Ken? She hasn't really worked since she was dropped from Becker. Is she blacklisted?
This reminds me of Carlene Watkins. Absolute 'kiss of death' for a series. "The Tortellis", "Bob", and the wonderful "Best of the West". Can't miss? Hire po
Paula Marshall was great in Cupid. And she had a good guest stint on the final season of Sports Night. It's a shame she can never be in a show that lasts.
That said, how do you know a comedic show or movie will not good or funny, it stars Jay Mohr.
I haven't the foggiest notion who Paula Marshall is... but your repeated references to her going back to 2006 here -- twice in recitations of Levine's Laws -- make me think there must be a great inside-Hollywood story. Can I join bitter animator in requesting it?
I was surprised when Marshall turned up in "Californication." Showed a, um, different side of her talent that network TV hasn't been able to do justice to.
mpcpgaryp says I am a big Paula Marshall fan. Loved cupid and out of practice. I cant't understand why her shows get cancelled- but it has nothing to do with her. I am still hoping for the right show to propel her into a successful, long lasting weekly series. Honestly I am not big Jay Mohr fan- but we shall see what happens.

I love Paula Marshall, and hate that she's never had a show last very long.
ReplyDeleteShe can make a show jump the shark in its pilot episode.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I enjoyed Out of Practice.
Paula Marshall is terrific, but Jay Mohr is the kiss of death. Can't stand him.v
ReplyDeleteIronically enough, the best show Paula Marshall ever did was Cupid, which is getting a do-over next season with a new cast.
ReplyDeleteI can think of one show that she didn't signal the kiss of death for: Seinfeld. I think she was in the "there's nothing wrong with that" episode.
ReplyDeleteThe exception that proves the rule, no doubt. She's the female equivalent of Ted McGinley when it comes to shark-jumping.
Ironically, she'll be joining the show "Shark" for a few episodes, replacing Jeri Ryan while Ryan is on maternity leave.
ReplyDeleteWonder if she'll be jumping James Woods on the show?
I'm with Dan. I think I've seen everything she's in but I don't know why it never lasts.
I have to agree with alto2... love her, absolutely can't stand him.
ReplyDeleteKen,

Paula Marshall looks vaguely familiar to me.

ReplyDeleteJay Mohr's best bit was when he fired Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. He plays a great backstabbing scumbag agent, you gotta admit.
ReplyDeleteI believe Paula Marshall was the "porn star with the heart of gold" in a multi-episode run on the little appreciated but really funny "Sports Night".
ReplyDeleteI was surprised when Marshall turned up in "Californication." Showed a, um, different side of her talent that network TV hasn't been able to do justice to.
ReplyDeleteAs long as I live, I'll never understand your problem with this woman.
ReplyDeleteBut, hey, I have an irrational dislike of Lou Rawls. At least he can't keep popping up anymore.
Jay Mohr was great in "Suicide Kings" and "Action" which died a premature death.
ReplyDeleteAh well.
I'm glad someone mentioned "Cupid" so I could situate Paula Marshal. There was another show I enjoyed.
But I'm not exactly the bellwether.
(deja vu)
Is that consecutive posts for me using the word "bellwether"?
Time to retire.
Paula MArshall is great but she's getting a little "jowly." I'd rather see Paula star with Jay's Mrs. THAT would be a show.
ReplyDeletePaula did indeed play the porn star that Jeremy dated on Sports Night. Ted McGinley was ALSO on that show, so it was definitely doomed.
ReplyDelete...I still love it.

ReplyDeleteI love Paula Marshall in Gary Unmarried.
