Here's a first look....

at the cover of my new book:
...coming to a Kindle or ebook near you!

If there's a genre of "Comedy Noir" it fits into that category.  MUST KILL TV is a scathing satire on television and murder.  It's the only novel that asks the question:

What's more important -- Renewing your Tuesday night line-up or human life?

And there's sex in it!

So this is just a tease.  If I had the time and money I would have made a trailer.   But at least you get to see the cover.  The rest of the book will be released soon.

It's the comic/thriller you've been waiting for.  Did I mention there's sex in it?

And the best part is -- I'll be plugging this now instead of my '60s book!

Stay tuned for more exciting details -- like when you can read it!   MUST KILL TV -- coming soon!

  2. As to your question, it really depends on your network. If you're CBS, there's one answer, and if you're anything other than CBS, there's another...

Hmm. What I'm wondering is whether the sex is Showtime, FX, or CBS.

  8. "What's more important -- Renewing your Tuesday night line-up or human life?"

Ben Elton took a crack at that subject in 2001 with Dead Famous.

Like you Elton is a scriptwriter first and foremost, having written for The Young Ones, Blackadder etc.

  9. If you can rewrite the locations to the Walla Walla Valley, I can do the video for this one too.

  11. Hurrah! Looking forward to reading this. The fact that it's "comedy noir" sounds like it will sit nicely alongside THE TIME MACHINE DID IT by John Schwartzwelder and INCOMPETENCE by Rob Grant, both of which I really enjoyed.

Tom in Vegas: Wow! I love that video. I want to listen to the entire speech, but basically: Wow, how wonderful to hear someone saying what needed to be said, so eloquently and passionately.

  14. I don't know what satire means, I'm just hoping there's sex in it.

  15. FonHom - I literally did laugh out loud at that! Good one!

  16. Sorry, Ken, but Lee Goldberg and I already used this title for a similarly themed episode of Diagnosis Murder. So you must immediately retitle your novel "Lee Daniels' Must Kill TV."

  18. It saddens me that Kick Ass 2, a brilliantly witty and smart sequel to a brilliantly witty and smart film, has fallen to No10 in only its second week of release, whilst A Very Important Movie starring Oprah has remained No1. I suppose this means she hasn't been binging on mac & cheese (according to Wikipedia, when she heard Beloved was beaten on its opening weekend by the horror comedy Bride of Chucky, she spent the next few days binging on mac and cheese). I guess she's probably now on the eighth draft of her Oscar acceptance speech.

  20. Yes, there will be a paperback at some point. It will also have sex in it.

  21. Paddy Chayefsky already decided...killing off Howard Beale at the end of NETWORK. after his corporatism rants began driving away his viewers.

  22. At first i was disappointed because you didn't mention paperback. Now you say there is a paperback, i'll make a room in my library for your book.

@ Bubba said "and why isn't Natalie Wood on the cover?"

With the word "KILL" in the book's title?

  23. I'll get it. And while you're on Amazon look for LOVE, DEATH AND THE TOYMAN and THE TOYMAN RIDES AGAIN. Both have sex and death and humor.

I love the cover ... except the "by" ruins the balance of the design. It looks like it was just flown in and stuck somewhere because no one knew where to put it. Your name in a different color makes it obvious that "Ken Levine" is the author. Think you could drop the "by"? Otherwise, great job to both you and the designer!

If someone's TV screen image had to have a bullet-hole in it, couldn't it be those American Pickers guys? Or Growing Pains' TV-dad Alan Thicke, just for producing that real-life son of his that makes the annoying music? Maybe Roseanne, just for old times' sake?

Looking forward to the book! I don't care of there's sex in it or not, unless you've got some ducks having sex, in which case, I'll pass. It's possibly the most disturbing sex in the animal kingdom that doesn't include Russell Brand.

  28. Lee Goldberg also used a similar idea in his "Dead Space". TV writers writing books about the TV industry? Who could POSSIBLY have predicted that.

  29. I hope Elizabeth Montgomery is in it.
