The fear of every play-by-play guy is screwing up a big call. This is clearly bogus but hilarious just the same. It's the "radio call" of the miraculous Auburn win over Alabama. The creators are Robert Clay and Josh Snead.
By comparison, here is the real radio call by Rod Bramblett for Auburn radio.
The real call is pretty impressive -- he gets the essential information out along with his intense emotion...
ReplyDelete"They're not gonna keep 'em off the field tonight!" Nearly a week later, and I still get chills. Amazing play, amazing call.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to compare this to the Cal call during 1982's famed finish of the Big Game (lateral after lateral, the Stanford band, etc.). The Auburn ending was a miracle, the Cal-Stanford close surrealistic.
ReplyDeleteIf you've lived in Alabama you would expect nothing less from an announcer witnessing an Iron Bowl upset on the last play. Both teams are now 11-1, but 'Bama lost the Iron Bowl......364 days of shame and humiliation. The state is defined, in part, by college football.

ReplyDeleteWhich may be its problem. If the state of Alabama put as much energy and drive towards its social programs as it does into college football, perhaps it wouldn't rank near the bottom of virtually all quality-of-life issues.
