Thanks, I enjoyed it. And this is coming from someone who dislikes the genre. I clicked on the play button figuring I would turn it off about halfway through, but I ended up listening to the entire podcast.

I remember when MTV's real world set there show up in Seattle, thinking that it would be embraced by the local "hipsters". It was quite the opposite, according to what I read in the Weekly, which at the time was the thing.
The actual patrons of the clubs had signs saying "go home Real World" and what not. The filming was not welcome and locals felt it was a sham.

I was working at the Bellevue UPS Store (still do) when Survivor was a real break out. Once in a while someone would bring in an audition tape to be on the show. I pointed out that if you are on the show, you cannot change the channel and make the annoying characters disappear.
