Welcome to a little respite from the news. We all could use a half hour escape with a little comedy.
I'm always saying that the bar has been way lowered when it comes to today's multi-cam sitcoms. Here's another episode of ALMOST PERFECT starring Nancy Travis, this one from 1996. We were always looking to stretch ourselves, find interesting new ways of telling stories, and taking advantage of the many talents our cast had to offer. This is an episode from season 2. It was not a "special" episode. It was more a typical episode. Nothing would please me more than to see today's sitcoms try things like this. See what you think.

Thanks, Ken. Always liked the show and Nancy Travis (not in that order, though)
Back when Nancy Travis joined Becker, I viewed her as a dealbreaker. Not even a poor man's Reggie! Thanks to reading your column over the years (and maybe loosening some rigid notions), I recognize that Nancy Travis has impeccable timing and delivery. Must have replayed the moment from the Steven Wright episode of Almost Perfect ("I know what you're thinking." "No, you don't") 5 times just to enjoy the delivery.
Now am able to enjoy the last 2 seasons of Becker without qualification (putting Hector aside for a moment).
Thanks for opening me to her talents. She has a lot of energy and a crackling presence.
Nancy Travis has been the not-so-secret weapon of "Last Man Standing" (her chemistry with Tim Allen is excellent, and the give-and-take between them is wonderful). A superlative comic actress.
Great episode. I loved the show when it was first on. One question. I really liked David Clennon in 30something and on your show, but after that he seemed to disappear, appearing on very little. Why hasn't he been cast in almost anything as, based on 30something and Almost Perfect he's obviously got a great range.
Apropos of finding interesting new ways to tell stories: Did you see WANDAVISION? Would love to hear what you think of it.
Phil Spector has died.
Way to break the fourth wall. Great stuff.
I agree with the comment above that Nancy Travis is just great on Last Man Standing. I started watching an older repeat of it on another channel and kept watching it for her. She manages to keep getting better and more beautiful. I hope someone grabs her up after this last season and stars her in a great new sitcom. I also like the younger daughter and the Mandy who disappeared.
Also, Annie Potts on Young Sheldon, she keeps getting better and more beautiful, too. I watch that show for her.
I need their beauty secrets!
Love me some Nancy Travis. And love this series! Smart, funny, clever, classy from Opening Titles through final credits. Absolute Best Comedy Cancelled Way Too Soon for No Understandable Reason.
