EP217: The Worst Podcast EVER

A spoof on bad podcasts. Annoying elements, no editing, discussions about nothing that go nowhere — they’re all here in this simulated brutal but highly recognizable “podcast.” Cringe and enjoy.

I was originally going to comment that this reminded me of Howard and Robin in their WNBC days but actually it's more like the Howard and Robin wannabes that have come (and gone) on radio over the years.

"Fun With Flags" with Dr Sheldon Cooper.

Pretty good! And, of course, by that I mean pretty bad.

Oh man, this could have used a spoiler warning for WandaVision... I get that’s part of the joke, but the spoiler was real.

Spot on, Ken. It reminds me of podcasts on Columbo and the West Wing. I lasted about to minutes combined listening to them.

I'm getting flashbacks of "Nine!" and "99!" from Howard Hoffman, Randy West, et al

Brilliant parody of a shitty podcast. "Colonel Podcast" indeed.

The way people ramble ramble on about pointless bullshit is so on point, I actually feel sympathy for them in a way. Maybe I have that tendency, but I try to reign it in. A lot of these people have no filters.

Had to stop listening about halfway through, because it was so on the nose. Still, great job.

RIP Jessica Walter. She was in ton of movies and TV shows. And what a beauty.

Friday Question: Frasier's theme is cool jazz-inspired despite Frasier and Niles being die-hard classical music/opera buffs (yet somehow it "works"). How did the producers arrive at this musical approach? Would the theme have been different if the Frasier character relocated to say, Atlanta or Chicago?

I meant the opening titles, not the swing-blues vocal used in the end title.

That was so spot on, I can't help but wonder if you listened to a certain Justified recap podcast.

You were TOO convincing!

The sheer # of podcasts makes me think of the joke about band overpopulation from the music zine Motorbooty around 1994- that the number of people joining bands threatened to eradicate the pool of potential show attendees if left unchecked

The worst podcast experience I can think of- was asked by a girl I know to listen to a science/ math-type one she was name-checked on that was basically the merger of 2 podcasts w/ guys who'd previously known each other- I shut it off after about 12 minutes- when they basically came out of the gate with their NPR voices and inside jokes/ references between each other that I had no idea about

I am a master control operator at a local television station in Ohio where part of my duties includes monitoring the programming going over the air. I regularly follow your blog and enjoy it immensely. So, I accepted your challenge to listen to the "Worst Podcast Ever."

Sadly, I must report that after a few minutes, I felt the sensation of being back at work listening in on "Live with Kelly and Ryan," or "Hoda and Jenna," or an interview on "The Tonight Show," and it occurred to me that I was not being paid overtime for this venture. I abandoned the podcast prematurely. I apologize for my lack of determination.

As far as action figures, I would buy Funko figures of "M*A*S*H" in a New York minute. Why haven't they gotten around to doing those yet?!

Some fans could rename your podcast “Shower With Ken”.

After this brutal episode, it’s “Send Ken to the Showers.”

The two co-hosts (is that four hosts?) were dim, sincere and delightfully funny.

When do we see the pilot?

Feel like this was at least partially a parody of the "Your Mom's House" podcast.

Well done!
