Stairway to Heaven...yeah yeah yeah!

It was 44 years ago this week that the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Here's how they might've sung STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN.

Just think what if they sang something from Megadeth or Metallica? Old Ed would have jumped so high, the coat hanger inside his jacket would have bent like a pretzel. That was a coat hanger, wasn't it? Or, maybe he was just glad to see us.

What does it mean if I like this arrangement better than Zeppelin's? I don't even like the Beatles and I love Zeppelin (but not Stairway). Go figure.

Come on Ken, I love you...but who hasn't seen this? We need advice for new pilot writers...too many notes from the suits, (writing with Kevin Bright from friends) and we need to know what the best way to write your pilot is...please post on that. Again, love your blog...but help a college kid out man!!! Huge frasier, wings fan...Love your blog also. Read religiously and tell my professors what you say.

Thanks, Fox Cutter.

Brad, good question. I will devote a whole post to that later next week.

In case anyone is curious, this comes from an Australian TV show from about 20 or so years ago called The Money or the Gun, hosted by Andrew Denton. Every episode had a version of "Stairway to Heaven" done a different way. I still have the tape of all of them.

The punch line was that Andrew Denton later had another interview-type show, where he managed to get Jimmy Page and Robert Plant as guests. Plant said that his favourite version was the fat Elvis impersonator.

I hadn't seen this (so thanks for the info, pseudonym). I love this version! Almost beats the original Rolf Harris version.

Brad: in fairness to Ken, not everybody sees everything on the Internet. I came across it only a month ago on a website called Coverville (and subsequently purloined t myseklf.)

In any case, if you're old enough to remember, the Beatles on Sullivan must be honored.

I know, sorry. Don't read blogs and post when inebriated and with large groups. Not that that's any excuse at all...in fairness to ken, I didn't mean to call him out on posting a video...so, officially, Sorry Ken (and everyone who hadn't seen it)
