The "Lost" CHEERS scene

This is one of my annual blog traditions.

For several years I've been talking about the "Lost" CHEERS scene. David and I wrote it for the 1983 Super Bowl Pre-game show to promote our fledgling series. They ran it just before game time and it was seen by 80,000,000 people. Nothing we've ever written before or since has been seen by that many eyeballs at one time. But the scene was never repeated. It never appeared on any DVD's. It just disappeared.

Until last year.

Sportswriter supreme, Joe Resnick has taped every Super Bowl including that one. And since the scene aired so close to the game, it was on the tape. Thanks to friend of the blog, Howard Hoffman, he was able to digitize it and post it on YouTube.  Here's the text of the scene.

So here it is. The Super Bowl is next.

Gee, Diane was right. That Theismann person picked Miami apart.

Pete Axthelm!

20 years gone - hope he has found peace in one of his favorite saloons or racetracks....

That was my first thought, too, Somersby!

I just got back from the Superbowl mass myself. It came up more than once in the sermon.

He's taped every superbowl? Because until this week, there was no tape of the first superbowl known to exist and the tape (now found) is/was reported to be worth a billion dollars. http://www.businessinsider.com/super-bowl-i-missing-tape-2011-2

Always fun to see this, but they all look younger than last year.

Diane seems to be wearing the kind of blouse she wore when she won the Miss Boston Barmaid contest.

Meanwhile, Green Bay has taken this year's Superbowl, with Aaron Rodgers selected MVP. They did the right thing this morning, attending Superbowl Mass.

aaaah got it.

www.byKenLevine.com

Sorry but in this case it's really better to have the www. in the URL because I so many people on the interwebs forget spaces and in this case I thought the "by" was actually a descriptor...

Great old clip, Ken! Thanks for sharing. I wish the DVDs had more neat things like this.
