How is this idiot on the air?

If you listen to my podcast this week I play several classic comedy bits.  One is the iconic Abbott & Costello "Who's On First?" routine.

Well, Fox News with Laura Ingraham do a real-life version.  It's both hilarious and horrifying to think that this person is allowed on the air and that millions of morons actually believe the nonsense she says.  But then it's Fox News.  Check it out.  This is for real.

Apparently, I kind of predicted this 21 years ago on an old web page I had:

As someone who has worked in radio I'm sure you know this problem can be traced back to the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine which opened the door for Rush Limbaugh and clones like her.

They tried to do damage control by claiming afterwards that it was "scripted". But come on, look at it. This isn't scripted. If it was scripted, it would have been framed somehow. As it is, it just comes out of nothing and fizzles out into nothing, he just moves on to the next point. It's not scripted, she's just a moron.

That’s the most air time I’ve ever seen of seen of the host person, and I would deeply regret even this wee exposure if it wasn’t so funny.

Since it’s likely nothing else spewed there is comedy gold, what if all of her commentary was delivered in Lou Costello’s voice? Or Porky Pig’s? Could I sit through 30 seconds? Three minutes?

Not willing to try.

All these talking head shows are worthless. They don't discuss or debate, they just preach, yell, interrupt and insult their guests. It's the continuing version of the Jerry Springer show.

My wife has always found the "Who's on first" routine tedious and drawn out to long. I played this for her and she thought as you did, hysterical and frightening.

Fox News: For idiots, creationists, Proud Boys, neo Nazis, conspiracy theorists, anti vaxxers and rednecks everywhere.

This may be harsh, especially this time of year, but I have severed ties with the Fox News-watching, Trump-worshipping, anti vaxxer faction of my late mother's side of the family.

My repeated pleas to get immunized have been met with unbelievably flippant, despicable responses and even deletions in the wake of five million dead worldwide and an endless army of exhausted medical workers. To hell with these relatives. I feel no remorse, and I don't care if I ever see these clowns again.

Some more Republican related hilarity. For the first time ever, the orange cunt was booed by his own worshippers during his latest Nuremberg style event when he mentioned he'd received the booster vaccine.

It requires cognitive dissonance on an unprecedented scale to worship the fat cunt while disapproving of the vaccine that he's taken because they believe it's a satanic creation for a fake virus while applauding him for saying he's personally responsible for giving the vaccines to the world.

My son recently completed an internship at the Brookings Institution. He worked for a former ambassador as a researcher and fact-checker for both publications the ambassador co-authored and his TV appearances. My son helped organize and fact-check the bullet points for when the ambassador would appear on CNN. Every fact was checked and confirmed by two different people, and the ambassador never deviated or enhanced those facts during his appearances. I was impressed with the amount of effort that went into a short five-minute appearance

Call it a hunch, but I get the feeling those steps are skipped by both Fox News hosts and guests.

I mean in a sense, we've kind of reached a new low in our society where any piece of fictional media that's released that depicts a culture that isn't White Christian America is automatically a candidate for cancel culture for being "woke." Just imagine if in 1945, when Disney's latest offering, THE THREE CABALLEROS, which explores and celebrates Latin American cultures, had people across the US bellyaching over how "woke" Disney was being for "pushing this agenda"?

The Ingraham Angle is obtuse.

That guy is Raymond Arroyo. He's a big deal on the EWTN -- the Catholic network. I saw him interview Kaye Ballard, and the way he gushed over her, and Broadway musicals in general, raised my eyebrows.

Sorry- looks somewhat scripted to me. Fox's lame attempt at humor.

This is only scripted if it's possible to read cue cards when you're seeing with double vision.

This is why Fox News and others get defamation lawsuits against them thrown out, claiming in court that no one could take it seriously. And seriously, why are we?

I worry that it isn't scripted...

Simple: She pulls in ratings. Heck, every Fox News opinion show draws big numbers, and Tucker Carlson's show is apparently the highest-rated cable news show in the country.

I remember when Fox News debuted with the pretense of "We Report, You Decide". I wonder if the pure (non-commentary) reporters there are feeling overlooked, and maybe considering going to NewsNation, the latest network to try straight reporting without opinion content.

While this clip is funny, the sad aftermath is that Ingraham said "It was all a scripted bit" and her viewers believed it. Because the build on the Rush Limbaugh "Everyone is lying to you but me" warm blanket the USA Right Wi8ng needs

What is seldom mentioned by the complicit MSM is the large number of corporate and wealthy ad buyers on the Fox News network, among them union-busting tax-dodging @JeffBezos — who owns the @washingtonpost ,yet advertises on @FoxNews via his @amazon company. Hard to imagine the Post’s late K. Graham doing the same

Actually, I thought many mainstream ad buyers were deserting Ingraham and Carlson for that matter like rats on a sinking ship. It's been one of SNL's long running gags about who sponsors Ingraham now.

Thanks. I did not know that about SNL
I watch occasional pirated YouTube clips but its host/guest choices ... e.g. S Palin Trump Elon and Kim ... are too often indefensible

Meh.

Bad version of "Who's on First."
So what?

Political commentators do bad comedy.

How about a post on bad political takes by comedians?

Start with Colbert or Jon Stewart or yourself.

Never heard of that show either, personally. But then I don't have Netflix.

Surely there are funnier clips showing the incompetence of Fox News (sic)?
