Mr.Levine, I actually think that's in bad taste. Like many people, my Grandfather lost to the Chargers during WW2 and I find it disrespectful to make light of such a trouncing.
This thing has been the talk of the picket line. Every writer--well, the comedy/football fan ones anyway--I've run into on the line has talked about how funny it is. And Hitler is played by the wonderful Bruno Ganz (Wings of Desire, etc).
Yea, as a Giants' fan here in Cowboys territory, I always talk to the Dallas fans about how bad it is for them when the 'Dolpher comes down from his luxury box in the final period and stands next to Wade Phillips or whoever the head coach of the day is and acts like he wants to take over the play calling himself. And they just wait for the day he takes care of things down in the bunker and their long nightmare is finally over...
This is the first time I recall seeing Hitler as part of a modern humor piece. Leaving aside moments that were swipes at Hitler -The Producers and its Springtime in Germany number, and Carla doing the goose-step in Cheers- it seems this is a first. Hitler is being connected to the present time. Hitler and Dallas, Dallas and Hitler. There was a time when this would have become a serious news story, no kidding, with talk of lawsuits. The use of Adolph Hitler this way would have been widely condemned, and even worse, would have made the Dallas Cowboys looked sympathetic. These are new times, I guess.
I guess modifying Downfall's subtitles has become something of an art by now. Almost two years ago I came across this version where Hitler (or at least Hitler's subtitles) go over the various pluses and minuses of cars.

Among us car guys it's already a well established classic. And the sports and football guys are only now getting around to it? For shame.

As far as replacing the subtitles to "Downfall", I like the version about the end of HD over Blu Ray better.

As a long, long-time Cowboy fan, I must say something I never thought I would say: I sympathize with Hitler.

That was fucking hilarious! Great job, whoever did it. Looks like a good flick, too, Downfall it's called?
Downfall is a brilliant movie. This is hilarious.
you guys do know that soccer versions of this have been all over the internet in europe for months now, right?

This is totally lost on me because I'm german.
Dammit.
It's great to see that there are enough people out there who watched "Der Untergang" in the US to actually make fun of it like this.
:-)
Oh and I found "bitter animator"'s sarcasm, you can pick it up at the lost & found ;-)
ravaj, what's soccer?
Brilliant and hilarious. Der Fuhrer has never been funnier. And I'm also glad the Cowpies lost. Nyah, Nyah!
I'm also a Giants fan living in Dallas. I giggled through the whole thing. GO G-MEN!!
This is even funnier than the one of these they did about Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD.
