Hey, all you hippies, flower children, boomers, war babies, far out dudes, middle agers, and anybody who loves great music.
GREAT BIG RADIO begins a week long tribute to 1967 starting tonight at midnight.
All the hits and a bunch of stiffs you remember fondly will be heard. See if your favorites still hold up now that you're not stoned. Did you really like Nancy Sinatra?
Also, sometime this week -- the Monterrey Pop Festival in its entirety.
So check it out. Right here. GREAT BIG RADIO.
Right on, man!

No, and we only liked Nancy in '66 because of that infectious descending line.
Even though this was 1967 Top Ten Songs of the Year:
1. Respect - Aretha Franklin
2. Light My Fire - Doors
3. Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream
4. Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
5. A Day In The Life - Beatles
6. Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum
7. Somebody To Love - Jefferson Airplane
8. Soul Man - Sam & Dave
9. Strawberry Fields Forever - Beatles
10. Nights In White Satin - Moody Blues
I was (and am) more of a Flo & Eddie, Youngbloods, and Stone Poneys kind of guy.
why would I not be stoned?
YES, I liked Nancy Sinatra and still do. Nancy had twenty one songs to hit the charts so there is more to her than those damn "Boots." There is a recent CD out that has a bluegrass feel to it titled "Pickin' On Nancy Sinatra." I think perhaps many people take pot shots, no pun intended, referring to your stoned reference...at Nancy.
I spent the entire year of 1967 in the army, and about half of it in Nam. Didn't hear a lot of music, but while at Fort Campbell I heard "Respect" endlessly. I hate that song.
Ken, thanks for the heads up. This is a neat station.
