For you Natalie Wood fans...

This week on my podcast I talk about the life of Natalie Wood (some things you didn't know) and the death of Natalie Wood.  There is still a lot of mystery surrounding her untimely demise, and I'll go over the questions.

You can find it just by clicking here.

Now I know there are those who are done with the Natalie Wood mystery.   That's cool.  There's also an interview with Ann Jillian.    I'm still experimenting and trying out different things and different topics.  Next week I'm doing a contest.  Like the blog, I enjoy the freedom of variety.  It's whatever stupid nonsense I'm interested in on a given day.

But getting back to Natalie Wood, judging by the overwhelming positive response to posting her photos (often you like the photos better than the posts themselves) I thought it was worth devoting a segment of one podcast episode to her.   Hey, look how popular SERIAL and those other unsolved-crime podcasts are.   You can always give me feedback yay or nay at HollywoodLevine@outlook.com.  (If enough people like the Natalie discussion maybe I'll solve the Bob Crane murder.)

Anyway, thanks for listening (if you do).

In the meantime, enjoy some Natalie photos.

This begs one question: Have you ever met Robert Wagner? If not, what would you say to him if you did?

By the way, I hope you and the family are doing ok after the sad loss of your father.

And to echo what Iain said the other day, I too would like to see a photo of you and the cat you're "warming" to! And again, good sir, I must insist you recognize the basic fact that cats are our superiors!

What I like about your podcast isn't one thing, it's lots of things. My favourite episode by far is the one with the tips on writing dialogue (#6). But I have also really enjoyed practically every single one. I like hearing about writing Cheers and M*A*S*H, about calling baseball games, about audience warm-ups, anything Ann Jillian has to say, and so on. I apologize if this isn't a lot of help in trying to figure out your focus. But mostly I'm enjoying listening to each episode.

Ken, have you ever seen the early 1960 episode of The Jack Benny Program guest-starring Natalie and Robert Wagner? This is a very, very funny show.

Bored with his show, Jack decides he wants to direct an episode of Playhouse 90; to their dismay, CBS executives find that the comedian's complicated, sweetheart contract with the network actually permits Benny this privilege. Natalie and Wagner are cast as the leads in a typical slice-of-life teleplay; Jack (predictably, of course) turns out to be somewhat less talented a helmer than Roger Debris, and gives the couple absurd and ridiculous directions. Wood and Wagner play themselves in a fairly straight manner and very appealingly, but Robert starts to lose his patience when it becomes clear that Benny is paying a great deal of uh, personal attention to the immensely charming Natalie.

A lot of fun, and it evokes warm memories of both sorely missed performers. This was included on the 2013 Shout! Factory set, The Jack Benny Program: The Lost Episodes.

I married my wife because she looks like Natalie Wood. OK not exactly, but there is a definite similarity.

According to Thomas Nagouchi, L.A.'s Coroner to the Stars, she fell out of a rubber raft while rowing ashore after an argument with Wagner. She clung to the raft as long as she could, but the weight of her coat (fur coat, maybe) dragged her down.

Ken - why not save yourself a lot of trouble, and start a new blog wherein you post nothing but photos of Natalie Wood...and on the occasion when you can't find one, put in some text about whatever you're thinking about at the time...?

I loved hearing from Ann Jillian, she was a big part of my 80s childhood! I have a friend who was a teenager when the TV movie came out. For the first time in her life, she did a self-examination. She found a lump which was successfully removed. She is alive today and the mother of 2 children, in part because Ann Jillian was brave enough to speak out. I know she's heard thousands of these stories but I'd be happy if you pass that one on to her.
