Podcast Picks

New podcast episodes begin next week.  In the meantime, here are a few from the archives that are pretty terrific and might hold you over.  Besides, what else is there to do on New Year's Eve?

I spoke with Dennis Palumbo, a successful screenwriter turned therapist.  He's got some great advice in these shitty... I mean "trying" times.

You can find it here.

Next for all you FRASIER fans, Bruce Miller who wrote the theme song discusses the process and shares a never before version.

You can find it here.

And finally, the art of improv comedy.

This is where you'll find it.

Have a SAFE and sane New Year's Eve.  The real celebration comes January 20th.

Using my magical powers of foresight, my senses are tingling with the prophecy that on January 20th at midday, all those in the Repuglican party and in the country who had previously called COVID19 a hoax or a regular flu and had dismissed the death toll as exaggerated will suddenly and miraculously transform into being concerned and indignant at COVID19 and will demand that President Biden be immediately impeached for failing to end the pandemic on his first day.

Hi Ken -

Here is my Friday Question!
While watching a TV show the other evening, I noticed that one of the lead actors was also the director - what kind of challenges does this present for the actor him/herself, the episode and the rest of the cast and crew??
Thanks!!

Woke up this morning to find I had morphed into a giant cockroach. Thanks Kafkaesque 2020! Although the good news is that I can now walk on the ceiling. How has your day been?

I loved listening to the Dennis Palumbo podcast. I appreciate that you reposted it. I came for the MY FAVORITE YEAR stories and stayed for the therapy and the novels. MFY and ARTHUR are my gold standard for comedies of that period. ( 2021 represents the 40th anniversary of ARTHUR.) I saw MFY in a campus theatre in Utah. Everything about it was memorable, O’Toole, Mark Lin-Baker,Jessica Harper and Anne DeSalvo, who was also in ARTHUR. It was one of the few times I saw audience members walk out because something offended them. It was the scene where O’Toole mistakenly walks into the Ladies Room. Right after his punch line there is a cut to a vendor putting mustard on two hot dogs. At that point a couple in front of me became irate and walked out.
I really was captivated by the story of Palumbo’s transformation to therapist. The novels sounded so fascinating that I visited his web site. I will definitely order one of them. I should probably start with the first one.
Thanks again for the chance to discover this particular podcast.
