So, do showrunners who are also amongst the cadre of producers on a series get paid extra, or their own key to the Executive Bathroom ?
With the crazy short episode orders and the frequency of not getting a second season, there's also probably a good number of writers who are perfectly content being second in command rather than tackling all that's involved with showrunning. Unless the showrunner is making significantly more money than the next Exec Producer, why stay all night in an edit bay when you could be home punching up a script with a bowl of ice cream?

Back in the 1970s, when I was born, my parents sweat and saved so that I might one day have the opportunity to grow up and become a showrunner, which unfortunately, at that time, meant a fast horse in a stakes race. Which would’ve been fine if I could’ve outpaced the guy doing the gelding.
I'll never be a showrunner, but I found that episode very interesting. I think many of the tips you presented, could apply to any job or leadership role.
