The Highlight of my career

On tonight's JEOPARDY.

And Alex even pronounced my name correctly. Prior to this the high point of my year was getting an Instacart delivery time.

My thanks to the writers and researchers of JEOPARDY.   Happily, a contestant got it right.  I was relieved when someone rang in.

I'm on the May 18th episode, which was two episodes after this one was taped. I was *that* close to actually getting this in my game! (And I totally would have given you a shout-out!)

Two of the best episodes of "Cheers" ever!

I saw that tonight and I thought,"Wow! How did David pull that off?"
(I thought it should have been a $2K question.)Congrats.

I was watching Jeopardy with my wife last night and I saw this clue and I went NUTS! I was like a very excitable dog hearing the doorbell.

I started yelling, "Oh my God! It's Ken Levine! It's Ken Levine! I read his blog! Oh this is so cool! Ooh! Ooh! What is Cheers? What is Cheers? Yes! Boo-Yah!!"

My wife was puzzled by my enthusiasm. "Are you friends with this guy? Will he pay you money?"

I'm not sure I understand this either. But I'll be damned that seeing Ken Levine as a clue on Jeopardy was the highlight of my day. I'm not sure Ken himself was this excited to see his name.

I was bummed that Sarah Jett Rayburn didn't win tonight. Oh, Sarah Jett, you will always be MY Chaka Khan!

Only thing that would have made it better was if Cliff Klaven was one of the contestants....

I guess it would have been too much of a giveaway to us the episode title "What Is... Cliff Clavin?"

Would have been funny though.

Congrats! I suppose it's too much to hope that a J! writer will out themselves as a blog reader.

(Meanwhile, this evening I got requested on Quora to answer the question "What's the quickest way to get on Jeopardy!". Which is amusing given that I've been trying out (and passing the tryout test) since literally the week before the first Alex Trebek episode aired and have yet to get on...to the point where Mark Evanier introduced me to Weird Al Yankovic with "Tom, this is Al. He wrote a song about losing on Jeopardy!. Al, this is Tom. He desperately wants to get the chance to lose on Jeopardy!")

I'm just hoping this wasn't the next-to-last new episode of Jeopardy, at least with Alex. (Next 2 weeks are re-running the G.O.A.T. prime time tournament from earlier this year.)

I think they're out of episodes filmed before they shut down, and we all know Alex is on borrowed time.

What's real cool is they got the answer right!

That is so cool! You've definitely made it... I saw the question and yelped out the answer.

What was the category?

The only honor that'd be even close would be appearing as a New York Times crossword answer. Congratulations!

I saw that too, and was thrilled. Congrats, Ken. How much did they pay you?

It's too bad that no one mentioned that Cliff saved the game by talking Alex out of his despondency.

Congrats, Ken. This is great!

One of my claims to fame is when I was a call in contestant a few years back on "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me" on NPR. I'm now the proud owner of a voice mail greeting recorded by Carl Cassel. I've stored copies on my PC, on a CDs and on my Google Drive in the cloud just to make sure I'll always have it.

Does this count as a crossover, and if so, is that a record for length of time?

@cjdahl60 - you got a Carl Cassel voicemail! So jealous!

Another of my Facebook friends, Jerri Menthey, appeared on the Survivor slot machine.

I am humbled to be in your (electronic) presence.
To Tom Galloway: Getting on JEOPARDY! is sometimes just a matter of luck. I was on in 1998, won a game, tanked in the 2nd (but got 2nd place because both of my opponents got FJ wrong).
