Vin Scully announced officially Friday night that he will return next year to broadcast Dodger games. It will be his 63rd season. I can't begin to tell you how relieved I am. It's unthinkable to imagine Dodger baseball or LIFE without Vin Scully.
Today is officially Thanksgiving.

Amen! I'm not even a Dodgers fan, but if I ever get the chance to listen to Vin Scully call a game, then I am.
What a great day...Vinny's back!
And he sounds as great as ever. Nothing like catching a Vin doing the Dodgers call. Even if Brooklyn is about to get clobbered by a hurricane all will be right with the world.
Let's hope McCourt is out by then.
Wow! I guess he came out OK in the Dodgers survey of their announcers. Man, I was on pins and needles there for a while. You're right, Ken. It is Thanksgiving. Now, if they can only get rid of those real turkeys, the McCourts.
What did Vin do before baseball and radio was was invented?

Red Barber taught him the fine art of smoke signals

The one bit of class remaining at Dodger Stadium, with the possible exception of the stadium itself.

We can face the fact that Vin makes a few more mistakes than he used to--and that on his worst day, he is better than anybody else on his best day.
Dodger Stadium's golden anniversary in 2012 becomes all the more sweet with Vin's golden tones. We can only hope by that season's end, the property (team and ballpark) will be under new ownership. Vin, Ned Colletti, Don Mattingly and the players deserve that, not to mention the fans of Los Angeles.
You do realize, Ken, that Vin has been calling Dodger games longer than you have been alive.
Paul, that's true for the vast majority of his listeners. Heck, my 90-year-old mother listened to Vin his first few seasons in Brooklyn. (To set it in context, Vin covered three years of Dodgers' games played at Braves Field -- in Boston.)
Hallelujah
I've been a Dodgers fan since I moved to Los Angeles i 1976. This makes me so happy! My late father would *love* it.
Bravo, Vin! Hope management gets you your back pay.
He's a regal gasbag.
Hallelujah!
I'd love to have the chocolate chip cookie recipe that Vin receives every year! It must be pretty special! How 'bout it? Please post for all of us. (I don't do Facebook so please don't post it that way.)
